Cynic Lovers

So far, it's a short one, but it will get longer!
(I think I've heard that before... where have I heard that before..?)

The 'Bloody Brilliant' Blog Award. 9/8/10
Given by the fabulously cynical Tricia Lornston of Confessions of a Recovering Cynic fame... after I gave it to her!
(The rules of receiving an award are thus: You jot down 7 random things about yourself and then bestow the award upon 7 other people whose blogs you admire.)
I have already sent out my seven... I'll tell you who later... and here are 7 random things about me:

1. I can't stand the word, "Moist". Even typing it makes me want to throw up.
2. Escalators confuse me, and I avoid them when possible despite being chronically lazy.
3. If it weren't for my metabolism, I would  be the size of an Orca Whale. When it finally gives out, you are going to see me on the news being airlifted out of my house.
4. The sound of babies crying makes me psychotic. I would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard.
5. I can't say 'Little Italy'. More accurately, I can't stop saying it. It comes out 'littleittleittleittley'.
6. I have more dogs than any sane person should realistically have.
7. I hate doing laundry more than anything else in the world.

The "Versatile Blogger" Award.  9/21/10
Given by my darling friend, CMG, the author of one of my favorite blogs in the world - Confessions of a Conflicted Mean Girl. What can I say? That girl's got some skills, and makes me shoot whatever beverage I happen to be drinking out of my nose when I read her. She is bitching.
UPDATE: I was also given this award by my good friends Canadian Blogger Girl and Novie at Just Another Avenue on 10/17/10. You guys rock!

The rules of receiving the award are thus:

A). Acknowledge the person who gave you the award: Done and done!

B). List ten things you like: (This should be interesting...)

1. The smell of Boscoe's feet in the morning. I have no idea why - I just find it comforting - Warm, earthy and vital.
2. Spending time with my Two Peas (Miss. Brooks: Button Fly! MP: His head was all sideways!) and my other amazing bitches (To - kind of - name a few: Miss. Snow, Miss. Eds, Miss. Lis, Miss. Diver, Mrs. Taylor, Miss. Grigs, Miss. Beed,  Lambchop's Ho, and Miss. Roberts). There's nothing like the confusing feeling of loving people and wondering why on earth they love you back. I can thank San Diego United Netball Club for giving me wonderful friends, allies, and all around wonderfully diverse kindred spirits.*
*If the alias is too obscure, email me for clarification. But I think you know who you are!
That would be me...
3. Watching The Boyfriend sleep. He twitches a lot, but he is peaceful. Seeing him smile in his sleep gives me the warm fuzzies. And if you tell anyone, I will deny it.
Mine, all mine...
4. Talking to my Dad on the phone. We are thousands of miles apart physically, but when I talk to him, I feel a cuddle. It doesn't matter how shit my life is, my Dad makes the sun come out.
My friends think my Dad is 'hot'... I think that is disturbing...
5. The statue of the Buddha I have. It cost me $13 at Ralphs, and I think it may have been the best $13 I ever spent. I'm not a Buddhist - I can't say that I subscribe to any religion - but when it catches my eye, even briefly, I have a moment of peace.
6. Seeing my dogs love on people. All of them, apart from Viola who I have had since a puppy, came from abusive or neglectful homes, and some of them took more work than others to bring them back from where they were. My dogs have taught me that trust, even after incredible hurt, is possible, and that joy can be found in everything. I founded Pit Bull Rescue San Diego back in 2005, served as its President until 2009, and discovered jointly a world of pain and happiness. I chose to embrace the happiness and use it to eradicate the pain. My dogs are living proof that past mistreatment can be overcome.
He is miserable... you can tell...

7. My siblings. I have a younger brother and a younger sister. I don't see or talk to either of them as much as I would like to, but I love them, and I know that if I was in the deepest reaches of hell that I could call them and they would ask, "How soon do you need me there?"
Yes, it runs in the family...
8. My pillow. I have a pillow that I have had since the day I was born. I know. "Eeeeewwww" and "How old are you?!" I just don't sleep well without it. It's pretty much a mess of feathers held together by a biohazard, but it comforts me. Leave me alone...

9. My house. When I was married, by husband wouldn't let me paint the walls or hang pictures, because, "It devalued the property." The property that I bought. When we divorced, I went batshit. The result is kind of Medieval Castle meets Moulin Rouge. I like it. Sue me.
10. This Blog. I have met some amazing people through writing, and I am honored to know them. It's true that the world is getting smaller due to the internet, but my group of friends is getting larger. I love each and every one of you.
Thanks to all. xxx
